
About Hand Camp
Hand Camp is a one to three day event for participants to learn new crafts and skills outdoors in a beautiful picturesque environment. Students and instructors will be camping together at the Avon Hills Folk School in Avon, MN. This is our 6th year and students and instructors have created some really great projects and everyone left with new skills and completed creations. DETAILS ABOUT HAND CAMP






Join us for our 5th Annual (took 2020 off for COVID) Hand Camp at the Avon Hills Folk School September 17th-19th, 2021 . Come for all three days and camp on-site Fri/Sat night at no additional cost, or come just for the day on Saturday!
Campers will arrive on Friday late afternoon/evening, then set up their campsites. Take a stroll around the farm and explore the woods to get comfy. We will also have a meet and greet around the fire when everyone is settled in.
Wake up, or come early for breakfast on Saturday morning. We will be serving up waffles or pancakes with maple syrup made at the Folk School, and breakfast sausage to get your day going.
Classes take place all day on Saturday. Each class will take place outdoors in a different part of the farm property. Instructors will be offering two 1/2 day classes, or an all day class. Please check out the Classes page to find out what we are offering. Everyone will break for a light lunch, then continue on with the learning. Saturday evening we will serving wood-fired pizza in the outdoor pizza oven for everyone to enjoy. There will be vegetarian options as well.
Sunday students can work with their instructors to finish up projects. Hang out as long as you like, then head out when you are ready. Breakfast will again be served on Sunday morning if you decide to camp.
Participants also have the option to forgo the camping, and just take part in the classes and meals on Saturday. Come early on Saturday and enjoy breakfast and get to know your fellow students!
Price for the whole weekend with camping or just Saturday classes is a base price of $175. If an instructor has an additional materials fee, it will be listed in the class description and added to the price when you book your classes. Registration includes 2 classes, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, camping, bonus mini workshops (grapevine wreath weaving and wood charcuterie board), and breakfast on Sunday if you choose to camp.
***Participants will be in charge of their own tents and camping equipment. Alcohol is allowed, and there will be waste bins for trash disposal.
***There will be a main campfire site for everyone to utilize as well as firewood.
***There are no showers on site. A restroom is available for everyone's use. Camping is primitive with no hook-ups or electricity.
***We love kids, but this is an adults only camp. You must be 18 or older to attend. All campers will be required to sign a release form to participate.
